What began as a love for candles exploded into a full-blown obsession after I received a candle-making kit for Christmas 2019. When I began making candles in early 2020, I had no idea this hobby would blossom into a nearly full-time endeavor. What started as Baxter Craft Co. quickly developed into a passion project.
After hitting the six-month mark of BCC, it started to feel like it wasn't quite *me,* so I started planning a rebrand. I played around with several other names, and even fell in love with a name before Sunday's Child, but found that it had already been used by another candle company!
After talking with my mom, I remembered a poem she read me when I was young, and I couldn't get it out of my head. Sunday's Child was born.
Monday’s child is fair of face
Tuesday’s child is full of grace
Wednesday’s child is full of woe
Thursday’s child has far to go
Friday’s child is loving and giving
Saturday’s child works hard for his living
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.
When I decided to venture into the world of candle making, I was sure of two things - first, that I wanted to make beautiful, sustainable candles using only nontoxic and phthalate-free fragrances. Second, I would only use 100% soy wax, grown in the USA. Soy wax is clean-burning and safe for pets, kids, and you!
Sunday's Child uses 100% soy, phthalate-free wax and wicks free from lead and zinc. We use only the highest quality fragrances and leave out any colorants or dyes. All of our candles are hand-poured in small batches in our home studio in Brewster, New York.
